How to Add and Edit Active Directory Server

  • If you want to import user profiles information from a set of customized servers that are running Microsoft active-directory, add the servers to a group of servers that are available for importing user profile information. After you are done with your SharePoint active-directory integration on the servers, you can add other servers later, edit all settings for the existing servers and delete servers used when importing user-profile information.

  • On the “Manage-Connection” page click on “New-Connection”
  • In the “connection-Settings” section of the Add-Connection page, type the domain name in the “Domain-Name” box given.
  • By default a domain-controller is usually detected for you. TO choose a controller, Click on “Select Domain-Controller” and then type the domain controller-name in the “Domain controller-name” box for the active directory-server that you would like to add.
  •  To access the server by using a Secure-socket layer {ssl} , Select “Use_SSL- secured connection” in the check box.
  •  If you would like to limit the amount of time spent when attempting to access servers that are not responding, Type a value in “Time-Out” box.
  •  If you are the site admin and you would like to restrict or expand the number of user profiles that you are importing in your site, type a new clause in “User-Filter” box or simply delete the existing clauses.
  •  Select “sub-tree” or “one_level” when changing the depth to use for searching users profiles.
  • If you want to limit the amount of data of each user profile, type a value in the “Page-size” box.
  • If you would also like to limit the amount spent when trying to access a server that ~is not responding, type a value in the “Page-time-out” box.

How to Edit Active Directory Server

  •  To edit active directory server go to the “manage Connection-page” and click on the server that you would like to edit.
  •  In the “Connection-Settings” section of the add “connection-page” , type a new name in the “Domain Controller-Name” box if you select the “Select a Domain-Controller” option.
  •  If you want to change “secure Socket-Layer {SSL} secure connection, clear or select the “Use SS-Connection in the check box provided.
  •  Type any value you would like in the “Time-out” box to change time spent when waiting for a response from the main Domain Controller.
  • To limit the amount of time spent when attempting to access a server that is not responding, type a new value in the “page Time-Out” box.
  •  If you would like to limit the amount of data exported by each user, type a new value in the “Page-size” box.
  •  To add another node in the “Search-base”, type a distinguished name for the new node in the “Search-base” box.
